Sports brands and other high profile brands ready to sponsor Indian contingent for Olympics
The Indian contingent for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 is all prepared for the event and brands related to the wide range of sports categories have come out to back sportspeople and sponsor them for the event.
The Olympics will be starting from July 23 and many of the Indian sports personalities are already in Tokyo and the Indian Olympic Association had already confirmed earlier that brands like Edelweiss, INOX group ad Nippon Paint are few of the leading sponsors for the athletes representing the country in Tokyo.
While some of the brands are sponsoring specific athletes, other brands like Amul, Raymond and JSW Group have come on board as partners and Raymond, a luxury clothing brand in the country, will be the official styling partner for the Indian contingent.
The Principal sponsor however is the MPL sports foundation making up for a deal worth 80 million rupees that covers the Tokyo Olympics as well as another major sporting event, Aisan and Commonwealth Games next year.
The president of the Olympic Association Narinder Batra said, “Although the team has no kit sponsor this year, we have got support from JSW Group, Amul, Edelweiss, INOX, and MPL Foundation. As per the deals, promotions will be executed across social media platforms.”
The association also said that they will also be setting up 6,500 Olympics selfie points throughout the railway station across the country. IOA had earlier announced a new theme song for the Olympics contingent sung and composed by Mohit Chauhan. As for the promotions, Batra said, “We will leverage radio, print and television to promote the event,” said Batra.
As per the IOA president, they have made huge plans for promotions of the Olympics in India and to show their support, they will be setting up petrol pump stations involving big activities Fit India and Sports Authority of India. MPL will be a huge deal this year as it will be availing the benefits of its reach digitally through the popularity of Olympics and promote the idea of digital sports that could also be helpful in physical sports.
MPL will also reportedly roll out scholarship programmes for budding athletes and promote it during the run of Olympics. The idea behind promoting virtual gaming is to encourage people to come to the actual sports arena and participate in activities such as shooting.
