Sonu Nigam Questions the Juries of Padma Awards for Brushing Off illustrious singers like Shreya Ghoshal, and Alka Yagnik

A few days ago the Indian government released the complete lists of Padma Award winners from the various fields. It has sparked both excitement and disappointment among the fans and other professionals. Also, esteemed Indian Playback Singer Sonu Nigam in an instagram video expressed his dissatisfaction with the Padma Awards for not presenting it to one of the legendary singers like Kishore Kumar, Alka Yagnik, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal.
“India and it’s Pending Awardees!”
“There are two legendary singers who have inspired singers all over the world. We have limited one of them with the Padma Shri award, that’s Mohammad Rafi. The other one didn’t even get a Padma Shri award, Kishore Kumar. Awards are being given posthumously right?
Among the current line of singers, Alka Yagnik had such a long and phenomenal career, she hasn’t received anything yet. Shreya Ghoshal has been proving her brilliance for a long time. She should also be honoured. Sunidhu Chauhan has inspired an entire generation with her unique voice. She hasn’t received anything yet” said Sonu Nigam concluding his video with a question to his fans who are the other singers who should be honoured.
