Samvidhan Diwas 2024: Remembering Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Vision
November 26 is National Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Diwas. It marks the day the Indian Constitution was adopted in 1949. This important day celebrates the core values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, which are the foundation of India’s democracy.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution, along with the Constituent Assembly, worked tirelessly to create a document that reflects India’s diverse culture and aspirations. The Constitution was enacted on January 26, 1950, establishing India as a sovereign, democratic republic.
Observed nationwide, Constitution Day serves as a reminder to uphold democratic values and citizens’ rights while embracing the responsibilities enshrined in the Constitution. Educational institutions, government bodies, and organizations mark the day with activities like reading the Preamble, discussions, and awareness drives to deepen understanding of constitutional values.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the importance of Samvidhan Diwas.
