Rajinikanth’s Coolie to Release on August 14, 2025: Action, Star Power, and a Fresh Storyline
Prepare to gain red-eyes at the box office because the Superstar Rajinikanth is once again up for it with his 171st movie Coolie, launching in theatres worldwide on August 14, 2025. The electrifying Lokesh Kanagaraj directed this film, and Kalanithi Maran produced it under the Sun Pictures banner; the film has already started making waves across.
An Individual Standalone Action Thriller
Coolie drills down into the mahogany vein of crude blood and dark gritty crime. The film will feature stylish action, emotional drama, and a storyline focusing on something fresh and intense. Coolie, unlike the previous films of Lokesh Kanagaraj, will not be a part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). That’s right, one stands alone, and fans are excited about what the director has to present in this.
A Star-Studded Cast Across India
Coolie brings together some of the biggest names from different film industries. Apart from Rajinikanth, the cast includes:

- Upendra (Kannada superstar)

Music, Visuals & A Bit of Nostalgia
Music is composed by the ever-contemporary Anirudh Ravichander, who has been credited to many chartbuster tracks. The film’s visuals are in safe hands with Girish Gangadharan behind the camera, while Philomin Raj is engaged with editing the film to keep its pace razor-sharp.
Of all the incidental emotional high points, Rajinikanth and Sathyaraj will probably steal the show, as they last acted together in Mr. Bharath, made in 1986, where Sathyaraj took up the character of Rajini’s father. For not performing in Sivaji and Enthiran, Sathyaraj’s re-emergence left the viewers ecstatic as well as nostalgic.
Beyond the Sky into the Clouds
Indeed, with an invincible combination of an engaging subject, and of course, the one and only Rajinikanth, Coolie promises to be another massive pan-Indian blockbuster. Now, while everyone waits for 14 August, Rajinikanth races ahead with work on Jailer 2-the sequel to the hit Jailer, which released in 2023.
So whether it’s big blasts and iconic figures or hard-hitting storytelling, Coolie won’t be something you miss at the theaters.
