Rahul Gandhi: “We will make sure there is no CAA in Assam if Congress comes to power”

On February 14, While visiting Upper Assam’s Sivasagar district, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi promised that if we come to power, we will never allow the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Assam and won’t permit anyone to even execute it.
While boosting the Congress campaign in Assam, Rahul will address three rallies in upper and northern Assam starting from Friday and later today will release the Congress party manifesto.
At the meeting on Friday, Rahul also declared that Congress will give each tea garden worker Rs 365 instead of 351 which was earlier promised by the BJP but was never implemented. He additionally met with the tea garden workers at Dinjoy tea estate in Chabua and had lunch with them.

On Saturday, during the campaign in Assam, Rahul criticized the Bhartiya Janta Party by saying that under their rule only joblessness, poverty, and inflation have increased.
Rahul also attacked PM Narendra Modi by asserting that he only visits Assam during the time of an election campaign. The BJP wants to administer Assam from Nagpur while permitting outsiders to manage the state, however; Congress would function according to the desires of the people of Assam.
Rahul said, after the demonetization which shocked the nation, the Modi government did not stop there but later introduced GST, which I call ‘Gabar Singh Tax’. GST on whom? The poor people of India, the middle class, farmers, laborers, small-medium businesses, and small shop owners. Those who might have got saved from demonetization got impacted by GST, he added.
Rahul will be releasing the Congress party’s manifesto at Assam Pradesh Congress Office today at 4.45 pm at Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) office.
Rahul promised five main things during the Assembly election campaign in Assam; we will nullify the CAA, raise tea laborers’ wages to Rs 365, raise 5 lakh government occupations, 200 units of free electricity to every household, and a monthly Rs 2,000 income to housewives.
