Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is in no mood to let go of Bharatiya Janata Party’s mishappenings since the time it came into power but the leader fails to understand that it is not what the Indian National Congress needs as a political party.
His starting remarks about the status of India came recently when he made a comment on how India was before Britishers. He said that ‘We were excited as a nation before Britsihers came’ but this statement somehow represents how Gandhi is refusing to step into reality and accept the past for a better future.
Gandhi is making the same mistakes that BJP party leaders and the Prime Minister is known to make in big rallies– pointing at the past. PM Modi has been known to make statements that often target Congress party and its history with and after British rule.
Many of the saffron party members target INC for dynastic politics and nobody can cross question them for very obvious reasons. They are in power so they speak out of confidence but when Gandhi makes such statements, it is out of fear or at least one assumes that it is out of fear.
The BJP does not have anything to prove right now with the kind of victory and acceptance people have shown towards it. No doubt critics have increased but even its followers have increased making it the largest single party in the country but the same cannot be said for the Congress party.
The INC needs to prove a lot of things. When in the ruling zone, they had completely spoiled their image. Even the leaders within the party had started questioning the leadership and the same is happening now. Senior leaders like Kapil Sibal have openly criticized the lack of leadership in the party.
With what happened in Punjab with captain Amrinder Singh, Gandhi should learn what not to do in politics, especially standing at the position it is right now rather than following a tit for tat game with the BJP. Also Gandhi talking against British rule also contradicts the school of thought Nehru came from. Known for following a mindset, a party like Congress cannot afford to contradict its views. They have always stuck to the politics and viewpoints of Jawaharlal Nehru, former prime minister of India, and changing it right or making a u turn from it, will cost INC deeply.
