PV Sindhu And Kidambi Srikanth Shine At At The Madrid Masters
The Indian shuttlers put up a strong showing as PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth advanced to the second round of the Madrid Masters competition.
On Wednesday, Indian badminton players Kidambi Srikanth and PV Sindhu advanced to the second round of the Madrid Masters competition.
The event, which is a BWF World Tour Super 300 event, is taking place at Madrid, Spain’s Centro de Deportes Municipal de la Comunidad.
Fifth-seeded Sindhu defeated Neslihan Yigit of Turkey 21-16, 21-19 in the opening round of the competition.
The winner of the second-round match between Cheung Ying Mei of Hong Kong and Line Christophersen of Denmark will take on the Olympic silver medalist.
In the opening round of the men’s singles competition, Srikanth, an unseeded player, defeated Rasmus Gemke of Denmark 21-8, 21-16.
In the second round, he will compete against the victor of the match between top-seeded Kento Momota of Japan and Loh Kean Yew of Singapore.
As they get ready for the forthcoming Tokyo Olympics, which are set to take place from July 23 to August 8, Sindhu and Srikanth will be expecting to play well at the Madrid Masters.
In other matches, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty of India won the men’s doubles match by defeating Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov of Russia 21-14, 21-19, to advance to the second round.
N. Sikki Reddy and Sumeeth Reddy B of India’s mixed doubles team, however, were eliminated from the competition in the first round after falling to Hafiz Faizal and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja of Indonesia 19-21, 18-21.

Overall, Indian shuttlers had a successful day at the Madrid Masters with advancements by Sindhu, Srikanth, and the men’s doubles team of Rankireddy and Shetty.
