Academy awards 2021 have been announced for April 26 and to announce the nominations, international icon Priyanka Chopra along with her husband pop star Nick Jonas will be presenting the nominations.
The couple announcing the nominations made their fans extremely happy considering Priyanka starrer ‘The White Tiger’ was also nominated in the mega event. Though her fans were ecstatic with the news, an Australian journalist was not so pleased about it. He questioned if the couple was in fact ‘qualified enough’ to announce Monday’s Oscar nominations.
Peter Ford is an Australian journalist and according to his Twitter bio he is ‘the best & most widely heard entertainment reporter in Australia & NZ’. He received a lot of backlash after the statement and made his profile private since then.
“No disrespect to these two but I’m not sure their contribution to movies qualifies them to be announcing Oscar nominees,” said the journalist. But Chopra was in no mood to give in to his call out. Chopra shared a video of screen rolling of more than 60 of her films, in which she acted and said if this is enough.
“Would love your thoughts on what qualifies someone. Here are my 60+ film credentials for your adept consideration,” said the 38-year-old actor.
He fans loved her response and appreciated the fact that she did not stay quiet and fought back on her terms. One of her fans pointed out that the journalist deleted the post and scored Chopra 1 against Peter Ford 0.
“Don’t take it seriously some people are just jealous to see you achieving more than they have achieved in their life that’s pretty hurtful for them. They are in just pain seeing you successful,” wrote another.
Priyanka Chopra’s film the White Tiger has been nominated in the best screenplay category. The film is directed by Iranian director Ramin Bahrani.
