PM Modi Supports Anurag Thakur’s Speech on Caste Census, Criticizes Opposition
Anurag Thakur is a BJP MP who delivered an important speech in the Lok Sabha on the caste census. He spoke of why he feels the opposition ideas are not good. Thakur presented facts and some funny lines to his audience. He tried to project that the opposition parties belonging to the bloc INDIA Alliance are indulging in “dirty politics” over the issue.
PM Modi’s Praise for Thakur
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was impressed with Thakur’s speech. He posted his views on X. Modi wrote that all must listen to Thakur’s speech. He termed Thakur as his “young and energetic colleague” and added that the speech was “a perfect mix of facts and humor.” Modi felt that Thakur’s speech exposed with clarity the flaws in the INDIA Alliance’s ideas.
Rahul Gandhi’s Reaction
Opposition Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi did not like what Thakur said in his speech, so he expressed his anger. He felt insulted by Thakur’s words and wanted to say they were not right. He emphasized his desire to have a caste census done all over India. This goes on to prove that there is a radical difference of opinion between the BJP and Congress on this issue.
The Debate Over Caste Census
The caste census has been a burning issue in Indian politics at present. It refers to enumerating the number of people across different castes in the country. Opposition parties, such as Congress, emphasize the need for this count so that their welfare can be taken care of accordingly. However, the ruling party, BJP, raised its concerns over conducting the caste census. It apprehends that this could lead to tension among various caste groups.

Political Reactions and Ongoing Debate
Since Thakur spoke and Modi came out in support, many other politicians have also begun speaking about it. Some senior leaders of the BJP showered praise on Thakur for speaking well. However, opposition leaders criticized both Thakur and Modi. They said the BJP is trying to shun debate on serious issues affecting the people.
The debate therefore substantiates that the caste census is an issue mooted in Indian politics. As the days approach for the next big election, I am sure that we might hear more about it.
