In a landmark event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the eagerly awaited Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway on Monday in Gurugram. This inauguration marks a significant stride in India’s ongoing journey towards enhanced connectivity and infrastructure development. The ceremony showcased the government’s unwavering dedication to strengthening the nation’s transportation network, enabling seamless movement of goods and people across the country.
The Dwarka Expressway, a colossal 8-lane highway, stands as a testament to India’s engineering prowess. The Haryana section of this expressway, spanning an impressive 19 kilometres, has been meticulously constructed at a staggering cost of approximately Rs. 4,100 crores. Divided into two packages, the first covers a 10.2-kilometer stretch from the Delhi-Haryana Border to the Basai Rail-over-Bridge (ROB). In contrast, the second encompasses an 8.7-kilometer stretch from Basai ROB to Kherki Daula.
The Dwarka Expressway is set to revolutionize the commute between Delhi and Gurugram, alleviating the long-standing traffic woes along the NH-48 corridor. By improving traffic flow and easing congestion, this vital infrastructure project will not only enhance the quality of life for commuters but also act as a catalyst for economic growth in the region.
PM Modi’s visit to Gurugram marked the inauguration of several other critical infrastructure projects nationwide. Among these are the 9.6-kilometre-long six-lane Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II)- Package 3 from Nangloi – Najafgarh Road to Sector 24 Dwarka section in Delhi, three packages of the Lucknow Ring Road developed at a cost of around Rs. 4,600 crores in Uttar Pradesh, and the Anandapuram – Pendurthi – Anakapalli section of NH16 developed at a cost of about Rs. 2,950 crores in Andhra Pradesh.
Moreover, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the Kiratpur to Nerchowk section of NH-21 (2 packages) worth around Rs. 3,400 crores in Himachal Pradesh, the Dobaspet – Heskote section (two packages) worth Rs. 2,750 crores in Karnataka, and 42 other projects worth Rs. 20,500 crores spanning various states across the nation.
