PM Modi Dedicates Frontline Naval Combatants on the 77th Indian Army Day
India celebrates the 77th Indian Army Day on January 15, 2025 (Wednesday) to commemorate the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, Lieutenant General Kodandera M.Cariappa. He was the last British Commander-in-Chief of India. The first recognition of this day commenced on January 15, 1949. During this honorable and auspicious day parades and other military shows will take place to celebrate the “Indian Army Day”.
On Wednesday, PM Narendra Modi dedicated the Frontline naval combatants including INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and INS Vaghsheer to build a self-reliant defence nation.
“Today, on Army Day, we salute the unwavering courage of the Indian Army, which stands as the sentinel of our nation’s security. We also remember the sacrifices made by the bravehearts who ensure the safety of crores of Indians every day.
Our Government is committed to the welfare of the armed forces and their families. Over the years, we have introduced several reforms and focused on modernisation. This will continue in the times to come” said PM Modi on his X.
During the ceremony PM Modi underscored about the Indian Navy power which is fostered from the period of valiant King Chhatrapathi Shivaji who laid the strong foundation, strength and vision for the Navy in India.
“It is for the first time that the tri-commissioning of a destroyer, frigate and submarine was being done” he added.
The recent notable achievements of the Indian Navy who saved hundreds of lives, ‘secured national and international cargo worth thousands of crores’ which increased the trust over India among the global nation, has been highlighted by PM Modi.
