PM Launches More Vande Bharat Trains for Smoother Rail Travel
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 10 brand new Vande Bharat Express trains today, making rail travel faster and more convenient for the common man. These semi-high-speed trains can run up to 180 mph, which is much quicker than regular trains. With better amenities like improved seating and doorway spaces, travelling long distances by train will become very comfortable for passengers.
The launch of these indigenous trains showcases India’s capability to conceive, design and manufacture advanced rail technology through the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The improved speed, amenities and overall travel experience of Vande Bharat aim to drive a modal shift from air to rail for distances less than 700-800 km.
Connecting More Cities Easily
The new Vande Bharat routes connect major cities and towns across different parts of India. People can now travel faster between places like Ahmedabad-Mumbai, Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam, Mysuru-Chennai, Patna-Lucknow, New Jalpaiguri-Patna, Puri-Visakhapatnam, Lucknow-Dehradun, Kalaburagi-Bengaluru, Ranchi-Varanasi and Khajuraho-Delhi.
With these new fast train services, journeys that earlier took many hours can be completed in a shorter time. This will allow passengers to spend less time travelling and more time at their destinations, whether for business, leisure or meeting family.
Expanding Existing Routes Too
Along with the new trains, the PM has extended the routes of 4 existing Vande Bharat services to cover more cities and towns. The train routes from Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Gorakhpur and Thiruvananthapuram have been lengthened to improve connectivity.
By adding new stoppages, these semi-high-speed services can now transport passengers to more destinations across multiple states without having to change trains midway. This enhances the ease and convenience of travel significantly.

Other projects like new railway workshops, loco sheds and pit lines will strengthen rail operations and maintenance capabilities. With significant investments in advanced trains, new tracks and supporting infrastructure, railway travel in India is being transformed rapidly to offer citizens journeys that are faster, safer and far more convenient than earlier.
