Piyush Goyal Visits Tesla’s Factory In US, Elon Musk Apologies
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, recently expressed his regret for missing a scheduled meeting with Piyush Goyal, India’s Union Minister for Commerce and Industry.
Musk’s apology came through Twitter where he mentioned his honor in having Goyal visit Tesla and his eagerness to meet him in the future.
This missed meeting was supposed to take place at Tesla’s manufacturing facility in Fremont, California, during Goyal’s current visit to the United States, which spans from November 13 to 16, 2023.
During his tour of Tesla’s facility on November 14, 2023, Minister Goyal was impressed by the presence of Indian engineers and finance professionals in senior roles at Tesla. He praised their significant contribution to Tesla’s mission of transforming mobility.
Moreover, Goyal drew attention to an important aspect of the India-Tesla relationship: the role of Indian auto component suppliers in Tesla’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain.
He announced that Tesla plans to double its component imports from India, a move that underlines India’s growing influence in the global auto components market.
In addition to his visit to Tesla, Goyal’s trip to the United States is packed with significant engagements.
He is participating in the third in-person Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) Ministerial meeting and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in San Francisco.
These are high-level international meetings where economic and trade policies are discussed among countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
