Neeraj Chopra’s coach gets a contract extension after his successful stint with the Olympian
One of the best partners on and off the field, Neeraj Chopra and his German coach Klaus Bartonietz will continue to further be together for athletes to achieve more in the upcoming tournament as Bartonietz’s contract gets an extension.
His contract has been extended till the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, confirmed the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) confirmed on Sunday.
This essentially means that the reigning Olympic champion in Javelin throw will continue with the German biomechanical expert, which was also his earlier wish.

The AFI said as it confirmed the announcement, “We have secured the services of Olympic Games javelin throw gold medallist Neeraj Chopra’s coach Dr. Klaus Bartonietz till the 2024 Paris Games.”
The German star athlete took charge as his coach in 2018 when his former coach and world record holder javelin thrower Uwe Hohn had to leave.
Other than him, the 400 m coach Galina Bukharina will also be continuing with the Indian side at least till the end of this year which will witness the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. Bukharina has been fruitful for India as the men’s 4x400m relay team managed to set an Asian record during the Tokyo Olympic games last year.
