National Games 2023: Goa To Host 37th National Games, After A Decade Wait
The Government of Goa has received an email from the Indian Olympic Association that Goa will host the 37th National Games in 2023 after almost a decade’s wait.
The 2023 National Games will be held in Goa. Govind Gowde, the state’s minister of sports, disclosed this information at the state assembly.
Additionally, he mentioned that Goa had finally been chosen to host the National Games after almost a decade of waiting.
The Sports Minister also stated that by the month of December of this year, the facilities needed to host the National Games would be available.
Govind Gowde expressed his gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allowing him to organize the National Games.
Gowde informed the audience that the Indian Olympic Association had sent a letter to the Goa government, and that the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports had concurred.
This email has confirmed that Goa will serve as the 37th National Games’ host city. In 2015, Kerala played host to the National Games.
A year later, in 2016, Goa was scheduled to organize the 36th National Games. Goa was unable to offer the requisite infrastructure to host these games in 2018 or 2019 either. They were then put off until 2020.
The coronavirus forced the postponement of these events in 2020, and the Goa administration was unsure if it would be able to hold them this year or not.
Gowde claimed that he had already informed every assembly member that by December 2022, the state would be prepared to host the National Games.
