National Folk Festival Coming to Jackson, Mississippi from 2025-2027
National Folk Festival to be held in Mississippi’s capital- Jackson from 2025 through 2027 Mississippi’s capital has been selected to host the National Folk Festival for three consecutive years.
The Clarion Ledger reports that Downtown Jackson will host a free, three-day festival every year during the second week of November. The event will showcase music, art, dance, and food from diverse cultures across the country and around the world.
On Tuesday during a press conference Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba said, “As we were aiming to be the selected city for the National Folk Festival, part of our charge and part of our effort to entice the selection of the City of Jackson was to make it clear where we have roots in the creation of blues and jazz and genres like gospel music, that this is the opportunity for America’s music to come home to Mississippi.”
“We want to make it clear that this National Folk Festival is Mississippi’s National Folk Festival, not just the City of Jackson.”
Jackson got the opportunity to host the festival among 42 cities. According to sources, around 60,000 people will attend in the first year and 100,000 each year thereafter.

The festival was created by the National Council for Traditional Arts, in 1934. It is the oldest multicultural festival of traditional arts in the country.
However, it is not declared where the outdoor event will be held in Downtown Jackson.
According to the official portal of NCTA, the festival is going to be held in partnership with communities across the world. According to the website, the previous festival was the 81st and was held in Salisbury, Maryland in 2022.
The executive director of the National Council for the Traditional Arts Blaine Waide said in a statement that this festival brings a long term economic impacts, community building.
So, overall the National Folk Festival will gain attention of world soon in Mississippi’s capital Jackson.
