Mukesh Ambani says, “India must make 5G roll-out a priority”
Mumbai – Businessman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, Mukesh Ambani said that India must make the 5G roll-out a priority to join the next-gen digital transformation bandwagon. He also said to ensure that 5G devices become affordable for the people. His comment comes a week after a government official said that India is planning to auction 5G airwaves early next year.
During the Indian Mobile Congress meet, Ambani said that his company, Reliance Jio is currently focused on 5G execution, and broadband infrastructure expansion in India. Reportedly, Jio is confident of being the first to launch 5G services in India. Ambani, who launched Jio in 2016 said that affordability has been a critical driver for the rapid expansion of the internet and smartphones in India. He offered free internet services to people by offering free Jio sims in 2016.
Mukesh Ambani’s Ideas
Ambani listed his ideas at the Indian Mobile Congress meeting to expand digital transformation in India. He pointed out the importance of fast internet services. He further said that Jio fiber connectivity should be completed across the country on a mission mode. Reportedly, citing the benefits of fiber he also said to be future-ready, India has to be fiber-ready. The fiber has almost unlimited data carriage capacity.
