China is all set to host the Winter Olympics 2022 in Beijing and leaders of several countries have already started to arrive.
On Friday, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, landed in China for the event.
The President of the host nation, Xi Jinping, invited the UAE leader for the mega event, one of the biggest since the Covid-19 outbreak. A lot is being expected from China given its history of conducting one of the most talked about and successful Olympics, the Beijing 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
It has been nearly 14 years since such a mega event was conducted in China but upon finally being given responsibility, the host nation is ready to welcome the contestant for the Winter Games.
The challenges are definitely high this time as the organizers will have to focus more on safety measures and the health situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The games are however lesser than the Summer Games and hence the pressure will be lesser in comparison.
Those who are concerned about the health situation should realize that the Olympic committee has made proper arrangements for the athletes in the wing. A closed loop has been set up so that they can separate competitors and other personnel from the Chinese public while the event lasts. Till now, there are 3,000 athletes at the event and the event has already started as scheduled. Those seeking to watch the event from the UAE can watch the event live on beIn Sports where the opening ceremony will start at 4pm UAE time.
