Microsoft To Launch Its Own Xbox Mobile Game Store
Microsoft has revealed that they are going to launch an Xbox-branded mobile game store. Are they planning to take on the Apple App Store & Google Play Store?
Microsoft intends to give your devices an Xbox touch. While the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is looking into Microsoft’s $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Microsoft has stated that it intends to create an Xbox-branded game store that would feature mobile games from Activison and King (Candy Crush makers).
Microsoft hasn’t formally announced anything about this yet. Instead, Microsoft’s explanation of how the acquisition would not hurt the market, which includes content from competitors like Sony, Google, Nvidia, and Amazon, included this admission in its response to the CMA.
In its thorough answer to CMA, the business said that buying Activision Blizzard would provide it the opportunity to launch a game store, particularly for gaming apps.
It would work on all platforms and aid the business in expanding the Xbox Store to mobile devices, among other things.
Additionally, Microsoft stated that the next-generation game store it will introduce in the future will be built on its Open App Store Principles, which it introduced earlier this year.
Microsoft claimed that the new game shop wouldn’t compete with Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store since doing so would need a significant shift in user behavior.
However, a significant change in consumer behavior is necessary to get users of mobile devices to stop using the Google Play Store and the App Store.
