Mehuli Ghosh Wins National Shooting Women’s Rifle Trial
Mehuli Ghosh won the national shooting women’s 10m air rifle trial one and & Ankur Goel won men’s 25m rapid fire pistol trial two in Group A.
The women’s 10m air rifle trial one and men’s 25m rapid fire pistol trial two of the national shooting competition were won on Wednesday by Mehuli Ghosh of West Bengal and Ankur Goel of Uttarakhand, respectively.
In the gold medal round, Mehuli defeated R. Narmada Nithin of Tamil Nadu by a score of 17-9, while Ankur defeated Bhavesh Shekhawat of Rajasthan by a score of 29 hits to 25 for the latter.
After 60 shots, Narmada earned the highest qualification score with a quality 633.5, while Mehuli had posted a 631.2. Olympic bronze medalist Elaveni Valarivan placed sixth with a qualifying score of 629.3.
Narmada and Mehuli both finished with scores of 264.2 in the top eight to take first place and qualify for the gold medal match.
Ankur Goel Tops Men’s Rapid Fire
Ankur took a similar route to the gold in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol trial 2 after placing fourth in qualifying with a score of 580. Bhavesh, the eventual silver medalist, took the top spot again with 585.
Vijayveer, who won the bronze medal, finished sixth in qualifying with a 580 but had lower inner 10s than Bhavesh.

Mehuli Ghosh is a renowned name in the Indian shooting sports. She has competed in shooting competitions in the junior division representing India on numerous international stages.
Mehuli has also garnered numerous medals in other competitions. In the 10m Air Rifle event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, she took home a silver medal.
She is additionally placed sixth and third in Asia’s global rankings. She just won the gold medal in the mixed 10m air rifle team event at the ISSF shooting World Cup in Korea in July 2022.
