Mary Kom Elected Chairperson of ‘Athletes Commission’ of IOA
Olympic Medalist Mary Kom has been elected as Chairperson and Achanta Sharath Kamal Vice selected as Vice-Chairperson of ‘Athletes Commission’ of IOA.
Olympic medalist Mary Kom was overwhelmingly chosen to lead the Indian Olympic Association‘s (IOA) athletes commission. Achanta Sharath Kamal, a legendary table tennis player, was chosen to serve as vice chair of the organization.
Mary Kom, PV Sindhu, and Commonwealth Games medalist Achanta Sharath Kamal made up the ten illustrious athletes who will make up the new “Athletes Commission” of the Indian Olympic Association, it was previously revealed on November 14, 2022.
The list of the 10 members of the Commission was released by Umesh Sinha, the Returning Officer (RO), on November 14, 2022, according to a news release from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

Key Details of Athletes Commission of Indian Olympic Association
The elected members were required to choose 8 Sportspersons of Outstanding Merit as well as a chairman and vice-chairperson from among themselves (SOMs).
The SOMs will make up the electoral college for the IOA President’s election, which will take place on December 10, 2022, together with the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Athletes Commission.
The names of 42 athletes who had been proposed by 36 National Sports Federations made up the Athletes’ Commission’s electoral college.
