On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the eagerly awaited Mahakal Corridor in Ujjain.
One of the longest in the nation, the 900-meter-long corridor. It was created as the initial stage of the renovation of the Mahakaleshwar Temple.
One of the most well-known temples and one of India’s 12 famous “Jyotirlingas” is the Mahakaleshwar Temple, which is devoted to Lord Shiva, a Hindu god.
The historic Rudrasagar Lake, which encircles it, has also been renovated as part of the reconstruction project.
The construction of the Mahakaleshwar Temple and the area around it in the Ujjain district is being done in accordance with a redevelopment plan that aims to expand the pilgrimage site and the city of Ujjain.
The initiative is anticipated to enhance the pilgrim and devotee experience and increase tourism in the city from 1.5 lakh to around 3 crore.
The 2.82 hectares of the Jyotirlinga temple premises in Ujjain are purportedly being increased to 47 hectares. The Rudrasagar lake’s 17 hectares are taken into account when planning the expansion.
The corridor is one of the longest in the nation at 900 meters in length. Shiva and Shakti, as well as other gods, will be depicted in more than 200 sculptures and tapestries.
The majestic gateways Nandi Dwar & Pinaki Dwar have been built a little distance from the corridor’s entrance.
The Mahakal Lok’s primary draws include a column of 108 exquisite pillars made of finely carved sandstone, bubbling fountains, and a continuous panel of more than 50 paintings depicting stories from the “Shiv Puran.”
The buildings at Maharajwada will be updated. It will be connected to the Mahakal temple complex. Additionally, the Heritage Dharamsala and the Kumbh Museum will be constructed.
The water level will be maintained while Rudrasagar Lake is cleaned and disinfected. Pipelines for stormwater and sewage will be erected independently.
An entertainment complex, a yoga studio, and a green belt are among planned developments.
According to reports, the state government will invest over Rs 856 crore in the Mahakaleshwar Temple corridor development project.
It is planned to spend Rs. 23.90 crores on an amenities center for worshipers and pilgrims. The construction of “Mahakal Lok’s” first phase cost about 316 crores.
