KKR First Team to Secure Place in 2024 IPL Play-Off
Hello, cricket fans! Today we are here again with the post-match updates of the 60th IPL match 2024 from Eden Gardens-Kolkata. This match was between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians. Before we discuss more and share the highlights, let me tell you that this was only a 16-over match – due to rain!
But when it restarted, KKR won the match by 18 runs and officially confirmed their place for the playoffs. KKR is on top of the points table this year after less bad years in the last season of IPL.
The toss was delayed by 2 hours and it started at 9:15 pm (Indian Standard time).
Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl first.
After losing the toss, KKR came to bat first. In the match of 16 overs, KKR scored 157 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. Venkatesh Iyer scored the highest score for the team i.e. 42 runs in 21 balls. Iyer scored rapidly with the help of six fours and two sixes. Nitesh Rana scored 33, and Russell (24) for the team.
Piyush Chawla and Jasprit Bumrah took 2-2 wickets for their team MI.
MI had a good start while chasing the score of 158 runs. The openers played well with patience. Ishan Kishan played a innings of 40 on 22 balls. The performance of star player Rohit Sharma was not satisfactory, he contribute 19 runs in 24 balls, Tilak Verma (32 runs). But MI lost the match again. After the powerplay, Sunil Narine gave the first blow to Mumbai by dismissing Ishaan. From here Mumbai’s innings completely faltered and could not recover again.
KKR won 2 matches with MI this season. This was the second match against each other in this IPL 2024. Earlier this match was played on 3 May and that time also Kolkata Knight Riders had won. They won over Mumbai Indians after 12 years.
