Jung Chae-yul: Zombie Detective actress found dead at her residence
A rising star in the Korean film and TV industry, Jung Chae-yul was found dead in her home on April 11, KST. Koreaboo, an international publication based in South Korea, was the first to reveal the news of her death, but not much detail on the matter is available yet.
Later, her agency Management S also confirmed the news, asking netizens to “refrain from writings speculative articles or spreading rumours” in a statement. The funeral will be held quietly in private, in accordance with the wishes of the bereaved family, it added.
The 26-year-old actress and model was seen in the Netflix series Zombie Detective, which premiered on September 21 and ended on October 27, 2020. It grabbed the Best Challenge Award at the 18th KBS Entertainment Awards.
Jung started her career in 2016 with the Korean modelling show Devil’s Runway. Although the show helped her lure in some fame for herself, her major breakthrough was the 2020 Netflix fantasy TV series. She played the character of Bae Yoon-mi, alongside other prominent stars in lead roles, such as Choi Jin-hyuk, Kwon Hwa-woon, and Park Ju-hyun.
Before the series, Jung was also seen in a 2018 movie, Deep. Additionally, she was also cast in another K-drama, currently in the production phase, titled Wedding Impossible. Filming had been cancelled following her demise and producers are currently trying to assess the situation, Star News reported.
The rising star was quite active on Instagram with around 29,000 followers. As soon as the news of her death broke out, a number of netizens across the globe took to her last Instagram post to offer their condolences to her family.
So far, the cause of her death is still unknown.
