Journalists Protest as FIR Filed Against Actor Mohan Babu for Assaulting TV9 Reporter
Telugu actor Mohan Babu has been accused of assaulting a TV9 reporter named Ranjith Kumar, while the reporter was recording Mohan Babu’s controversy of a property dispute between Mohan Babu and his son Manchu Manoj. The attack was recently held whereby the journalist was taken to the hospital with three fractures on his zygomatic bone. Another video surfaced online that captured Mohan Babu using bad language against a reporter and then physically assaulting the reporter using a microphone. The police filed an FIR at Pahadishareef police station under section 118(1) of the Indian Penal Code which deals with voluntarily causing hurt.
The sibling rivalry rose after Manoj damaged the gate of the Jalpally family house and was prevented from getting in by his father. The incident occurred after several times Mohan Babu lodged a complaint with the police for protection and filed a case against Manoj and his daughter-in-law Monica for an attempt to harm him. The conflict appears to be very much a family affair. It is said to have origins tied to the Sri Vidyanikethan Schools, as well as allegations of bias in favor of Mohan Babu’s eldest son, Manchu Vishnu.
The Hyderabad journalists’ bodies planned a protest on Wednesday, December 11, to protest the attack. The Delhi Telugu Journalists Association (DTJA) vehemently condemned the attack on the press, saying that it is disrespectful to one of society’s pillars.
