In her frequent visits with Maharashtra bound parties, Ms. Mamata Banerjee has made it abundantly clear that United Progressive Front (UPF) actually does not really exist.
Her interactions have been heavily loaded and were done with the topnotch in the political game like Sanjay Raut himself, Sena leader and state minister Aaditya Thackeray and NCP chief Sharad Pawar. Standing by the UPA does not seem to be on anyone’s list. So, Raut now wants to ask the Gandhis what they intend to do with their associations.
While speak to the Bengali didi, Mr. Raut has said the Sena felt that forming a parallel front to the UPA is like strengthening the BJP, and that the most dangerous threat is that even those who are fighting against Narendra Modi and his ideology think that the Congress should be wiped out.
Towards assembly elections in five states, it is being foreseen that Sena and Congress leaders are keen to make an alternative attack against BJP with the help of Congress support. In the last two months, Mr. Raut has met Rahul Gandhi twice already. In October, Raut had met Rahul and discussed the violence in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri and other issues related to Maharashtra. Sena backing the Congress and their multiple meetings are being seen as an indication that there is no threat to the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, comprising the Sena, Congress and NCP.
