Is Dhoni Always Right with DRS? Indian Umpire Anil Chaudhary Weighs In
MS Dhoni is a name in cricket that needs no introduction , he is known for his excellent cricket career. He is widely recognized for his brilliance and game awareness. His exceptional accuracy with the Decision Review System has even led fans to dub it the “Dhoni Review System.” Recently Indian umpire Anil Chaudhary has shared a brief overview in which they are stating that Dhoni is often accurate, but he doesn’t always get his DRS calls right.
Speaking on the YouTube channel of Shubhankar Mishra, Mr. Chaudhary said, “It’s not always the case that Dhoni is right; sometimes it goes the other way, but he’s close to accuracy. He has a deep understanding of the game.”
During this YouTube chat Mr. Chaudhary also praised young wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant for his improvement over the years. He said, “Rishabh Pant has come a long way. It’s all about experience—watching replays, reassessing decisions”. He emphasized that wicketkeepers have the best vantage point to track the ball’s trajectory, often guiding umpires in their decisions.

Mr. Chaudhary suggested that the former India captain could make a good umpire if he were willing to spend the required time on the field. He said, “He’s very close to being accurate. Often, he stops others from appealing. He could be a good umpire if he’s ready to be on the ground for seven hours”.
Although the idea of Dhoni becoming an umpire is purely speculative, it is uncertain whether he will wear the Chennai Super Kings jersey again in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.
