Is A Cabinet Reshuffle On The Cards?
A cabinet reshuffle might be on the cards. This is owing to the fact that two separate groups of ministers and Modi party’s top brass has twice in the span of four days.
The meetings have lasted long and were held in the PM’s residence itself. According to sources, the main topic of discussion has been the effective running of the government. In attendance has been, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, along with BJP President J.P. Nadda and General Secretary in-charge of the saffron party B.L. Santhosh.

Also attending the sessions has been Union Ministers Sadananda Gowda, V.K. Singh and V. Muraleedharan. The second meeting saw the attendance of Home Minister Amit Shah, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Jitendra Singh, BJP chief Nadda and Santhosh.
The Narendra Modi government has been under the fire since the second Covid-19 wave for mismanagement of the crises and non-preparedness to handle it. Even Mr. Modi’s G7 Summit virtual address has received mix negative rebuttals from the opposition. While the Modi administration has been trying to get India on the world map, back home, support hasn’t been great.
In the recent past, state leadership was trying to contact the US pharma companies for their own supply of vaccines, to which the White House flatly refused saying that it only wanted to freeze a deal with the Centre. This is Modi’s second term, in which India has seen a dramatic shift in its status as a developing nation. Under his leadership, India has also developed an image as a nation that can help others, instead of only seeking help, as has been its image in the past.
