IPL 2025 Schedule Announced; International Players Confirm Availability
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has announced its schedule for the next three seasons in an unprecedented move that may be the first of its kind in Cricket calendar planning. The next season will be held in 2025 with the start on March 14, and the end on May 25 with a total of 74 games of the league.
The following seasons are as follows March 15-May 31, 2025, and March 14-May 30, 2027. This early announcement comes despite previous plans that the competition was going to grow to 84 matches in the 2025-26 season and 94 matches in the 2027 season in the media rights tender document covering 2023-27.
In a boost for the tournament, the majority of the full-member cricket boards have stated that their players will be available for all three seasons. Cricket Australia has committed to full release for 2025, with limited changes in 2026 due to a Pakistan ODI series and in 2027 for the first-ever Australia v England Test. The England and Wales Cricket Board has revealed the list of 18 centrally contracted players and it has left out Test captain Ben Stokes from the 2025 mega auction list.
South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, and Zimbabwe players will be available in full throughout all three seasons. Sri Lanka has confirmed availability for 2025 and Bangladesh has given names of 13 players to which availability is different. Pakistan’s players continue to sit out of the event since 2008 because of political instability.
