COVID-19: UAE Humanitarian Assistance and Support During Global Crisis

According to a report by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, MoFAIC, the UAE’s aid planes have delivered approximately 260 tonnes of medical and food aid to 24 countries since the COVID-19 outbreak, and up to 260,000 healthcare professionals have been assisted by aid flights.

Due to travel restrictions, the UAE has worked with many countries to coordinate flights and repatriate citizens who were unable to travel due to the current global crisis. The country sent 20 tonnes of supplies to China and helped bring back 215 people to the UAE Humanitarian City in Abu Dhabi.

Apart from providing humanitarian assistance, the UAE government worked with the US Mission to the UAE to help repatriate at least 25 American citizens who were unable to travel. The UAE Embassy in Washington was an initial donor to the Children’s National Hospital, which launched the state’s first walk-up COVID-19 testing location for young patients. The UAE Embassy is also supporting Feed Fight, an organization distributing meals to healthcare workers, responders, and food markets—providing groceries for Washington, DC residents in need.
