Infosys Co-Founder Kris Gopalakrishnan Among 18 Booked Under SC/ST Act Over Alleged Casteist Threats

Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan, former Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Director Balaram, and sixteen others face criminal charges under the Protection of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The Sadashiva Nagar police station submitted the case after receiving orders from the 71st City Civil and Sessions Court (CCH).
Former IISc faculty member Durgappa of the Bovi tribal community submitted a complaint after working at IISc’s Centre for Sustainable Technology. As per his statements, he faces allegations of wrongful inclusion in a 2014 honey trap case because he lost his professional position. The caste abuses and threats he experienced were his claim during that time.
Three important defendants among IISc officials and faculty members are Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, and Sandhya Vishwswaraih, currently working at the university. Since the complaints emerged IISc faculty members have stayed silent including Trust Board member Kris Gopalakrishnan.
