One of India’s best shooter’s Saurabh Chaudhry has yet again proved why is among the cream of the nation as he went on to grab gold at the ISSF world cup held in Cairo.
He won the gold medal in his favorite rather strongest parameter – men’s 10m air pistol event – with which he also managed to bring in the first gold for the nation for the year on Tuesday.
The youngster shot 16 in the gold medal contest against Germany’s Michael Schwald (6). The third position was grabbed by Artem Chernousov of Russia but the flag of Russia was removed due to the ongoing Ukrainian conflict. Russia went for invasion towards Ukraine last week only to have promoted a war like situation in the region.
The Asian Games gold medalist upped his game after the qualifying event where the 19-year-old stood in the third position. He had managed 584 points at the qualification stage but easily made it through to the elimination as top eight shooters. The first relay at the event was also topped by Chaudhry with a score of 38 which gave him entry to the medal match contested by four highest scoring shooters. There too, the Youth Olympic gold medalist topped the charts.
