Indian Mobile Congress 2020: PM Modi relays use of mobile tech for vaccination drive, Mukesh Ambani assures Jio 5G in 2021

Jio 5G in 2021: During his inaugural speech during Indian Mobile Congress (IMC), 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded India’s emergence as the preferred destination for mobile manufacturing among companies. He also noted that as India has one of the lowest mobile tariff, it makes the country with fastest growing app industry. Mr. Modi shared his vision of bringing high speed fiberoptic data connectivity to every Indian village in next three years.
Prime Minister said that India’s largest vaccination drive against Covid-19 will use mobile technology. “It is also with the help of mobile technology that we will embark on one of the world’s largest COVID-19 vaccination drive.”
IMC 2020 is organized by the Department of Telecommunications and Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). The theme of event is “Inclusive Innovation – Smart, Secure, Sustainable”.
During IMC, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, shared the importance of 5G technology revolution in India. He added that Jio would be actively working to pioneer this in India by 2021 second half.
Mr. Ambani said, “India is today among the best digitally connected nations in the world. In order to maintain this lead, policy steps are needed to accelerate early rollout of 5G, and to make it affordable and available everywhere. I assure you that Jio will pioneer the 5G Revolution in India in the second half of 2021.”
He added, “Jio Platforms, with its family of over 20 start-up partners, has built world-class capabilities in Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Blockchain, etc. We are creating compelling home-grown solutions in Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Financial Services and New Commerce. Each of these solutions, once proven in India, will be offered to the rest of the world to address global challenges.”
Speaking about 5G network connectivity, Mr. Ambani said that it will strengthened by indigenously developed network, as well as hardware and tech component, making it a striking monument of PM Modi’s vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat. He also said the need and in most probability that India will become a manufacturing hub of digital hardware. He stressed its importance to relieve India of its dependency on large-scale imports of these hardware units.
IMC 2020 was also participated by various ministries, telecom CEOs, and domain experts in 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud and Edge computing, Cybersecurity, Block chain and Automation.
