Indian hockey legend Charanjit Singh dies aged 92

Indian hockey legend and Olympic medalist Charanjit Singh died on Thursday due to age-related complications in Una.
He is known for his participation in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics where he won a gold medal for the country. He was in his hometown when he was dunf to be reeling from this age issue.

Born on 22nd November 1930 at Mairi village and did his schooling at Col. Brown Cambridge School, Dehradun. Higher studies were pursued at Punjab University. While part of the gold-winning hockey team, he also won a silver medal at the Rome Olympics in 1960.
He announced his retirement from hockey but continued to work as Director of the Department of Physical Education at Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. “Dad was paralyzed after suffering a stroke five years back. He used to walk with a stick but since the last couple of months, his health deteriorated and this morning he left us,” said V P Singh.
