India women’s hockey team beats China to grab gold as Asia Cup
India grabbed a bronze medal at the Women’s Asia Cup as the women in blue beat China by 2-0. Not the rank that the Indian side expected as the team went in as defending champions this time.
Nevertheless, the girls looked completely in control of the game and were determined to win the bronze medal at the tournament on Friday.
The Indians were only disappointed with their game when they lost against South Korea where their game was visibly weak, lacking the intent to win.
But they did not let the loss upset them and started their attack on China in the first two quarters itself by scoring two goals in the process before going into the half time against China. However, they failed to score another goal that they set up in the second half.

It was definitely a fast-paced game in favor of the Indians, especially the first quarter. They earned a couple of penalty corners and started to create many openings and finally, Sharmila Devi ended up changing the structure at the scoreboard in the 13th minute.
In the second quarter too, the pace was reduced but the intensity grew as the Indian side yet again looked for well-suited opportunities to attack. Continuous attacks by India were penetrating through the Chinese defense and after relentless attempts, Gurjit secured a goal in the 19th minute with a superb drag-flick to make the scoreline 2-0.
