Positive Talks Signal Boost for India’s Critical Minerals Supply: Vaishnaw

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday termed the current deliberations on critical minerals, pointing to the government’s effort in enhancing the availability of resources that are critical in India in the quest to promote clean energy and high-tech.
After the meeting, Vaishnaw stated that it was about better access to minerals, lithium, cobalt, nickel, and rare earth elements, necessary for electric vehicles, renewable energy storage, electronics, and semiconductor production. He added that the alignment of activities among the ministries, the public sector departments, and the private actors to minimize the importation level and establish robust supply chains is critical.
The minister pointed out that India is considering a combination of local exploration, foreign alliances, and recycling efforts to ensure increasing demand. There are anticipated policy changes, increased clearance speed, and international partnerships, which will make a significant contribution.
Vaishnaw further indicated that the critical minerals ecosystem will be fortified, and this will facilitate the Indian manufacturing objectives, energy shift, and overall economic prosperity.
