India Clinches Women’s ICC Title By Winning U19 T20 World Cup
India created history by clinching first-ever women’s ICC title. India won the U19 T20 World Cup title by defeating England in the tournament final.
There is a connection between India and capturing the inaugural competition conducted in South Africa. Indian women’s team defeated England in the Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup final at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom to claim the title.
The team captained by Shafali Verma put on a strong performance in the final to defeat England by a wide margin of 7 wickets.
India bowled first after claiming the toss and limiting England to a score of just 68 as the bowlers displayed perfect technique against a hopeless English batting lineup.

Star openers Shafali Verma and Shweta Sehrawat were removed early, which gave India’s chase a bad start. But the Women in Blue got back on track thanks to a strong combination between Soumya Tiwari and Gongadi Trisha, who helped them win with six overs remaining.
India started off on the right foot. Titas Sadhu and Archana Devi wrecked havoc on the English batting order by taking two wickets apiece and causing major problems for the Grace Scrivens-led team.
The subsequent bowlers supported the new-ball pair’s work by taking two wickets each, including Parshavi Chopra.
Captain Shafali, Mannt Kashyap, and Sonam Yadav each claimed one wicket, and Tiwari made an exquisite direct-hit run-out.
Tiwari and Trisha each scored 24 runs as they successfully led India toward the goal. Trisha was out after three runs, while Tiwari went unbeaten and added the go-ahead runs.
An Indian women’s team has never previously won an ICC championship. Richa Gosha and Shafali were members of the team that lost at the MCG 3 years ago.
The senior team had previously suffered defeat in the Women’s Cricket World Cup finals in 2005 and 2017, as well as in the championship game of the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup against Australia.
