Wayanad Next for Priyanka Gandhi? Change in INC Hook, Political Debut for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as MP!!!!
Priyanka Gandhi, General Secretary of AICC, has been the only Indian politician in the Gandhi family treeline who has not contested elections for the Indian National Congress till now. There were stints during the 2019 and 2022 elections when Priyanka wanted to stand up in the elections for running the office but after a time she was not seen in the forefront.
But now the question arises, will she be seen in the house or not. According to the speculations and after analysing the situation, it would be quite absurd if she doesn’t take up a seat in the Lok Sabha.
Rahul Gandhi’s Raebareli seat win and Priyanka’s hint at becoming an MP
Both the siblings Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi are expected to be at the Parliament after Rahul Gandhi’s win in the most hotly contested 2 seats that is of Raebareli and Wayanad. As the former have won both the seats it is to be seen which one is taken up by the INC Chief and if Priyanka Gandhi gets going in the Parliament from any of these two seats.
There were hints from the INC president, Rahul Gandhi when asked about whether her younger sister would be seen taking the place that he leaves blank. He answered, “Wait and watch.” sparking a bit of excitement among the political experts. On asking about his decision to take up the seat, he said, both the electorates would be happy when he decides on forsaking one of them.
Priyanka Gandhi as X factor for INC against BJP and NDA
He went on to add, “Earlier PM Narendra Modi would have faced a larger defeat (by 2-3 lakh votes) in Varanasi had his sister contested from that seat”. This statement is a big revelation that the party President is backing Priyanka and wants her to come to the forefront.
It is a fact that PM Modi was expecting a win by 5 lakh votes but at the end only managed to secure the seat by winning by a margin of 1.5 lakh votes, thus making it quite clear that Congress gave a tough fight in the elections and is not to be taken lightly. The opposition is stronger than before and PM Modi along with his party has to keep working effectively to retain the trust by fulfilling the expectations of the masses.
While till now Priyanka has been silent as she always does on asking about her future as an Minister of Parliament, there are rumours she may take up the Wayanad seat in Kerala while her elder brother takes up Raebareli.
Priyanka took up charge as Party General Secretary in 2019 and is in incharge of the Party in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Priyanka Gandhi’s stand on the situation
As usual, Priyanka has been adamant in her refusal. She has been on unbroken steadfastness that Kishori Lal Sharma, manager of the political capital of INC, Raebareli, who defeated BJP’s Smriti Irani in Amethi be backed by her brother instead of her.
It is also in the news that she can contest in the by polls that is going to be held in the coming six months if Rahul retains the Raebareli Seat and leaves the Wayanad seat vacant.
In the recent years, Priyanka has quite upscaled herself as a front rank campaigner of the INC, second only to that of her elder brother Rahul Gandhi. She has quite a large public presence and engagement better than Rahul although he has improved and gained attraction by doing campaigns like the Bharat Jodo Yatra for his Party.
