IAF Develops ‘Vayulink’ For Jammer-proof Communication
The Indian Air Force has developed an indigenous ‘Vayulink’ platform with a base station to manage, operate and function jammer-proof communications.
The Indian Air Force has developed a creative approach that will assist pilots in dealing with inclement weather and also give them uninterrupted, jammer-proof connection with the base station.
According to an IAF officer participating in the project, the data link communication, also known as “Vayulink,” sends radio communications to the base station when the signals are weak via the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), also known as NAVIC.
He continued that the crucial feature of the technology approach is that it forbids fratricide or friendly shooting.
In order to enlighten people about its platform at the India Pavilion in the ongoing Aero India 2023 here, the Indian Air Force has set up a gallery on Vayulink.
According to Wing Commander Vishal Mishra, “Vayulink is an ad-hoc data link communication technology that, when placed in an aircraft, delivers the position of other aircrafts nearby, encrypted traffic data over a secured channel.”
The position of friendly ground forces, including tanks and personnel, is shown on the aircraft display when the airplanes are flying close to them during a battle situation, according to an IAF officer.
“The system’s benefit is that it stops fratricide when you enter a fight. It implies that you can determine where our ground forces are deployed, “He asserted.
According to Wing Commander Mishra, the Vayulink technology also helps plan real-time bases where several teams can gather and go towards the target incoming from various places and improves combat teaming.
He continued, “The device can also provide the pilots with weather data.” Wing Commander Mishra added, “The technology can offer you radio communication also while you are flying above the highlands where there is no radio communication.”
He claims that because the technology was developed by the Indian Air Force, Vayulink is useful for the Air Force, Army, and Navy in addition to being able to be provided to other government agencies.
He asserted that Vayulink was created exclusively by the Indian Air Force and is an extremely secured system.
