Hyderabad’s N-Convention Centre, Owned by Nagarjuna, Faces Demolition for Encroachment
The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection authorities have initiated the demolition of the N-Convention Centre. It is a prominent venue owned by actor Nagarjuna. This action comes in response to allegations of illegal construction on land designated as Full Tank Level (FTL) and within the buffer zone of Thammidikunta Lake in Madhapur.
Spanning a 10-acre plot, the N-Convention Centre has been under scrutiny for some time. Official records from the North Tank Division’s executive engineer indicate that the FTL area of Thammidikunta Lake covers approximately 29.24 acres. It is alleged that the N-Convention Centre encroached on around 1.12 acres of this FTL area and an additional 2 acres within the buffer zone.
Over the years the N-Convention Centre management has faced criticism for allegedly leveraging their influence to circumvent regulatory actions imposed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other authorities. These accusations suggest that the management avoided the consequences of their encroachments through their connections.
The demolition process began early on Saturday morning, with HYDRA officials on-site to oversee the operation. They were accompanied by a contingent of police personnel to ensure the procedure was carried out smoothly and without disruptions. This move marks a significant enforcement action against alleged illegal constructions in environmentally sensitive areas.
