Horror-Thriller ‘Maamannan’ To Start Streaming On Netflix In July
The Tamil political thriller film “Maamannan,” directed by Mari Selvaraj, is set to release on the streaming platform Netflix this month.
Starring Vadivelu, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Fahadh Faasil, and Keerthy Suresh in lead roles, the movie explores the father-son relationship between Maamannan and Veera as they confront challenges posed by their rival, Rathnavelu, in the realm of politics.
The film will be available for streaming on Netflix from July 27, 2023. The official Twitter account of Netflix India announced the release date, expressing excitement about the star-studded cast and the collaboration between Vadivelu, Udhayanidhi, Fahadh, Keerthy, Mari Selvaraj, and AR Rahman.
Director Mari Selvaraj cited Kamal Haasan’s film “Thevar Magan” as a significant influence on “Maamannan” during the audio launch.
He expressed how deeply “Thevar Magan” affected him and mentioned the absence of his father’s representation in the film. Watching “Thevar Magan” alongside Kamal Haasan was a memorable experience for him.
Mari Selvaraj revealed that “Maamannan” would be a significant film in his career, featuring a star-studded cast. The film delves into the realm of politics and promises a surprising role for Vadivelu, solidifying his stature as a legendary actor.
“Maamannan” features music composed by Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman. It boasts cinematography by Theni Eswar, editing by Selva RK, and art direction by Kumar Gangappan. The film is produced by M Shengabag Moorthy and R Arjun Durai of Red Giant Movies.
The film received rave reviews from critics and audiences. It offers a powerful portrayal of Vadivelu as a Dalit MLA challenging caste oppression within his fictional political party.
Fahadh Faasil’s portrayal as the primary antagonist, Rathnavel, has been widely acclaimed. Keerthy Suresh plays the main female lead in the film.
Despite facing some protests from Thevar groups due to Mari Selvaraj’s criticism of “Thevar Magan,” the film has garnered significant attention and excitement.
