Headline Indian IT NRI Receive Padma Bhushan 2022

The third highest civilian award has been awarded to two IT veterans of Indian origins who have made India proud by making a place for the country on the world map.

Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai, were awarded the Padma Bhushan today. Both, come from humble beginnings took reigns of one of the top 5 companies across the globe. Pichai (full-name Pichai Sundarajan) was born in Tamilnadu, in a two-room apartment in Ashok Nagar, Chennai.

Microsoft Chairman-CEO Satya Nadella and Google-Alphabet CEO, Sundar Pichai are amongst 17 other awardees who have been given one of the highest civilian awards. Both have been instrumental in bringing innovation in digital technology, what we love and use extensively today. Both enjoyed excellent educational credentials and secured a background in different fields of engineering.

Awards were also given to individuals like Tata Sons chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran and the heads of India’s two biggest Covid-19 vaccine makers – Cyrus Poonawalla of Serum Institute of India (SII) and Krishna Ella and Suchitra Ella of Bharat Biotech. Reasons are evident and this shows Modi’s exceptional leadership and methods to award the ones who have made a difference to the country’s pride.

Veteran actor Viktor Banerjee was also amongst those to receive the award. It is usually the President that approves the names but it obviously has a touch of Modi here.
