“He Was Always Drunk”: Man Kills Daughter-in-Law, Hangs Himself

A shocking incident took place in Hathipur Kuria village, Uttar Pradesh, where a 70-year-old man killed his daughter-in-law with an axe and later took his own life, police said on Wednesday.
According to police, Rajpal Satya allegedly attacked his 30-year-old daughter-in-law Sumitra during a heated argument. He used an axe kept in the house, which led to her death.
Soon after the murder, Rajpal was reported missing. Later, his body was found hanging from a tree in a nearby orchard.
Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi said that Rajpal was known to be a regular drinker. Early investigations suggest he may have been under the influence of alcohol during the fight.
Police reached the village after locals reported the murder on Wednesday morning. While returning from the spot, they received news of Rajpal’s suicide.
Sumitra’s husband, who works as a truck driver, was not home when the tragedy occurred.
Both the bodies are sent for the post-mortem. The crime instrument axe has also been recovered. A forensic team is also examining the scene, and an investigation is ongoing.
The village remains in shock as police continue to gather details.
