Google Pixel 9a launching today: Price, features and everything you need to know

At this time, March 19, Google is gearing up for the announcement of the Pixel 9a, its last but certainly not the least affordable smartphone. The company seems quiet on all the official launch details, but various leaks have indicated with high confidence that the unveiling would take place today with sales on March 26. Adding to the excitement, an unboxing video appeared on Monday, depicting the Pixel 9a in all its glory.
Pixel 9a: Expected Price in India
The Pixel 9a is expected in the leaks to cost $499 (around ₹43,000) for the 128GB version and $599 (around ₹51,800) for the 256GB model in the US. If Google maintains its regular pricing strategy, then the price in India may begin at around ₹52,999, with the higher storage variant potentially going up to ₹64,000.
Coming to colors, the 128GB variant should come in Iris, Obsidian, Peony, and Porcelain colors, while the 256GB version may be limited to Iris and Obsidian only.
Pixel 9a: Design and Display
Pixel 9a from Google shows a new design change. What the recent unboxing video leak revealed were elements of a phone ditching the conventional camera bump while keeping a much more premium, flat-back design for a more streamlined profile. The device will also feature a flat frame along the lines of the iPhone for a modern minimalistic vein in styling.
One thing though that will likely be controversial will be those large bezels around the 6.3-inch AMOLED display. While nostalgic Pixel fans may find this sexy, others may view it as Neanderthal compared with rival mid-range smartphones.
Including features of display:
- AMOLED panel of 6.3 inches
- Fast scrolling 120Hz refresh rate
- Protection against Gorilla Glass 3.
The overall concept proposes to follow the forthcoming Pixel 9 and 9 Pro with their rounded edges along with visible antenna lines to cater for enhanced connectivity.
Pixel 9a: Power and Hardware Performance
Inside this new phone, the Pixel 9a will be coming with a Google-built Tensor G4 chipset along with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM. This ensures that this device has a great user experience while running optimally using all of Google’s AI-driven optimizations.
