Former Indian Spinner Harbhajan Singh raises question for dropping Yuzvendra Chahal from the CT Squad

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is going to begin from the month of February, as a preface the lists of Indian squad has been released by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). Many fans were disappointed with the squad selectors and controversy broke for being so biased with some of the outstanding players who weren’t selected in the squad.
Former Indian Cricketer Harbhajan Singh expressed his dissatisfaction with the Board selectors for dropping the spellbound leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and wicketkeeper & batter Sanju Samson. He argued with the stats of Sanju’s phenomenal average which he has in the one day cricket format. Meanwhile, he expressed his disheartened moment when Yuzvi Chahal’s name wasn’t included in the team.
“Truly, I feel bad for him. He scores runs but he is dropped. I know you can only select 15, but I feel his batting suits the format. He has an average of 55-56, but he isn’t even there as a second wicketkeeper. When we talk about selecting him, people ask, in whose place? Places can be made” said Harbhajan Singh regarding Sanju’s remarkable performances in the past years.
“Sanju isn’t there. Yuzvendra Chahal isn’t there either. You’ve picked four spinners, two of them are left-armers” he added. He continued that Yuzvi should have been added in the squad to showcase variations with a leg-spinner.
“I don’t know what wrong he did that he doesn’t fit this team”. He further debated about the batting order which he thought that Yashasvi would be the opener. But after Gill was announced as the Vice Captain predominantly he will get the chance to open and followed by Virat in the third position and Shreyas at fourth. So, it could create the situation of making Jaiswal to come in a different position from the pavilion. The unsettled controversies and debates after the squad release for a big tournament is an inevitable one.
