Facebook Rebranding itself with metaverse so as to create meaningful online engagement
California -Recently Facebook has been facing intense scrutiny over its business practices, and the company is planning to rebrand itself with a new name that focuses on the metaverse. CEO Mark Zuckerberg is reported to announce the name at the company’s Connect conference on Oct. 28.
The company was founded in 2004 and now the officials are of the opinion that Facebook’s future lies with the metaverse concept. It focuses on the idea that users will live, work, and exercise inside a virtual universe.
Zuckerberg mentioned that in the coming years, he expects people will transition from seeing FB primarily as a social media company to seeing it as a metaverse company. In many ways, the metaverse is the ultimate expression of social technology.”

The rebranding would come at a time when FB is under fire from regulators, lawmakers, and activists. Whistle-blower Frances Haugen has shared thousands of company documents with regulators and the Wall Street Journal. The documents detailed Facebook’s struggle with moderating its content and alleged deleterious mental-health effects of its photo-sharing app Instagram.
The true metaverse idea will take another 10 to 15 years. Some critics say this latest announcement is designed to re-establish the company’s reputation and divert attention, after a series of damaging scandals in recent months.
Internal research by Facebook found that Instagram, which it owns, was affecting the mental health of teenagers. But Facebook did not share its findings when they suggested that the platform was a “toxic” place for many youngsters.
According to FB, after the introduction of the metaverse, people will be able to hang out with friends, work, play, learn, shop, create, and more. It’s not necessarily about spending more time online it’s about making the time that is spent is more meaningful.
