Election 2024: Haryana CM Meets PM Modi After Hat-Trick Win, Omar Abdullah Thanks PM After J&K Victory
The election results of Haryana and Jammu & Kasmir are out now, BJP won for the third time in Haryana, but the NC-Congress alliance secured the victory in Jammu & Kasmir elections. After the countings, reactions, public opinion, and news analysis it is clear that these election results were mostly influenced by regional politics. This result is creating a blend of victories, lessons, and surprises for all the political parties in India.
BJP won 48 of the 90 seats in Haryana and secured the third time consecutive victory and power. The ruling party initially trailed behind the Congress in early counting, but after then took the lead and ended with a victory.
Outgoing Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed confidence in the governance and highlighted their development achievements in the state. He also shared an update from his meeting with PM Modi. He met with Prime Minister after the big win in Haryana.
However, the Congress had a less successful day. Despite winning or leading in 36 seats the party fell short of the 46 needed to form a government. From the team Congress wrestler-turned-politician Vinesh Phogat secured a win from Julana seat after a closely fought battle.
There was another election and vote counting were going on in Jammu and Kashmir. NC-Congress alliance secured a clear victory in Jammu and Kashmir. This was the first Assembly election held since the abrogation of Article 370. The NC won 41 seats, while its junior partner, Congress, bagged six. BJP lagged by 29 seats.

Omar Abdullah the leader of the NC won both seats Budgam and Ganderbal. He is now ready for a second term as Chief Minister. He shared an exciting post on his official X platform after this declaration of victory. According to the PTI Omar Abdullah said, “After the formation of the government, I hope in the first cabinet meeting, the cabinet will pass a resolution impressing upon the Centre to restore the statehood. The government should then take that resolution to the prime minister”.
Omar Abdullah also shared a post on X where he responded to Narendra Modi’s warm wishes after his election victory with a thank you message.
The results in Jammu and Kashmir were seen as a strong statement against the abrogation of Article 370. Farooq Abdullah stated that the verdict proved the people’s dissatisfaction with the decision made in August 2019.
The outcomes in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir reflected the complex political situation of the region. BJP celebrated a win in Haryana, but the victory of NC-Congress in J&K shows their deeper roots in regional politics of Jammu and Kashmir.
