CWG 2022: Tejaswin Shankar Won India’s First Medal In High Jump
India’s Tejaswin Shankar won a bronze medal in the men’s high jump event at the 22nd Commonwealth Games. He was the last name to join, but won the first medal for India.
Commonwealth Games 2022 Birmingham: On Wednesday, Tejaswin Shankar, who was most recently nominated to the Indian team for the 22nd Commonwealth Games, made history.
But he has made history by being the first Indian to represent India in track and field events at the current Games.

He accomplished a milestone during this that no other Indian had ever done before at the Commonwealth Games.
Won Bronze For 2.22m High-Jump
Tejaswin Shankar is the first Indian to represent India and take home a medal in the high jump competition at the Commonwealth Games.
With a leap of 2.22 meters, he took third place and the bronze. Hamish Kerr of New Zealand won the competition’s gold medal.
With a leap of 2.25 meters, Kerr won the competition. Brendan Starc of Australia finished in second place.
Tejaswin Shankar, a 23-year-old Delhi native, was unable to match his personal best effort during the bronze-winning attempt. He set a continuous national high jump record of 2.29 meters in the year 2018.
Tejaswin Shankar Is A National Champion
Tejaswin is a high jump national champion who holds the record for the country. His high jump personal record is 2.29 meters.

Tejaswin has also this season leaped 2.27 meters. He accomplished all of these jumps on his first attempt.
Shankar made his initial efforts at jumps of 2.10m, 2.15m, 2.19m, and 2.22m during the Birmingham championship.
