Congress vs AIMIM: Can Rahul Gandhi Contest Against Owaisi In Hyderabad?
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has dared Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Hyderabad instead of Wayanad.
Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Hyderabad instead of Wayanad.
Owaisi, who is currently the Member of Parliament from Hyderabad, expressed his willingness to face Gandhi in a direct contest and prove what a real electoral battle means.
Speaking at a rally, Owaisi dared Rahul Gandhi to contest from Hyderabad this time, instead of Wayanad. He issued the challenge, stating that Gandhi should come to Hyderabad and participate in the elections instead of choosing Wayanad.
Owaisi went on to accuse the Congress party of being responsible for the demolition of the Babri Masjid and the Secretariat’s mosque.
He emphasized that while Congress leaders may make bold statements, he is ready to face any challenge and contest the elections.
Owaisi also called for the preservation of peace in Telangana and reminded the people of the state about the challenges faced during the Congress regime.
In response to Owaisi’s challenge, Sanjay Raut, a Rajya Sabha MP from the Uddhav Thakrey’s Shiv Sena (UBT) tried to defend Rahul Gandhi.
He suggested that if Owaisi is a true nationalist, he should not challenge Rahul Gandhi but instead challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Raut commented on Gandhi’s increasing popularity, stating that he could win elections from any part of the country and that Owaisi should issue such challenges to BJP leaders.
The deserving candidates will contest when there will be the PM’s election, but currently it’s talks for MPs & MLAs. Thus, it seems that Sanjay Raut is trying to divert Owaisi’s or media attention by defending Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, as Raut is also a part of I.N.D.I. Alliance.
This challenge from Owaisi comes amid allegations by Rahul Gandhi. Rahul has accused that the AIMIM is trying to collaborate with BJP, ahead of state Assembly elections.
Do you think Rahul Gandhi will dare enough to contest from Hyderabad instead of Wayanad? Well, it doesn’t seem likely because if he really had the capability, he would be running for a major ministerial role rather than a MP or MLA seat.

Even when Congress was in power, he was never given any significant position. Perhaps, even his own party doesn’t think he is capable enough.
Amethi used to be Rahul and Sonia Gandhi’s stronghold, but when Smriti Irani entered the region, Rahul had to leave Amethi and shifted to Wayanad, where there is a high Christian population, making it easier for him to win.
So, if he couldn’t win from his own area, it doesn’t seem likely that he will dare to contest in the areas influenced by Owaisi, where there is a higher Muslim voter presence.
There was a time when Congress was considering including AIMIM in its I.N.D.I. Alliance, but today, Congress and AIMIM are in direct competition.
