Chhath Puja 2022: Fake Claims Of Cleaning Yamuna Ghats
Delhi Govt pours ‘poisonous chemicals’ to hide toxic foam in Yamuna. But every year they make fake claims of excellent preparations for Chhath Puja.
The Chhath celebration, which is considered to be the most auspicious among residents of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Eastern UP, begins today.
As every year, devotee women who participate in the celebration take a plunge in a ghat as a kind of prayer to the sun for wealth.
Yamuna is regarded as the best location in Delhi, one of the major water sources, for worshippers to commemorate the festival.
However, images from the previous year showing women standing or diving in foam-filled Ghats show the Yamuna’s worsening condition.
Every year, there is a torrent of claims in Delhi under the name of Chhath Puja preparations without devotees receiving any advantages or amenities.
In Delhi’s government, there is just as much negligence as there is veneration among the festival’s believers.
For the past few years, the Delhi administration has made the claim that it has made excellent arrangements for the Chhath festival.
But every year, these assertions come to pass. Even after Kejriwal’s declaration that he will purify the Yamuna water in a year and take a bath in it a year prior, devotees still travel to the Yamuna’s ghats to celebrate Chhath.
Every year, the filthy Yamuna Ghats in Delhi provide a stark contrast between Kejriwal’s boasts and reality.
Arvind Kejriwal made a lot of pledges regarding the Yamuna and its ghats during the election. Cleaning up the water body has been a campaign theme in both the 2015 elections and the 2020 assembly elections.
The head of AAP also suggested building top-notch ghats in their election manifestos for 2015 and 2020. However, the ghats’ state is deteriorating year after year.
Given the current state of the Yamuna, it is only reasonable to assume that Chhath devotees will once more be required to stand in the Yamuna’s noxious and filthy water, do their devotion, and feel betrayed.
